Top 10 Bags To Start Your Collection Of Bags

Before showing

For me it’s not about the clothes, expensive designer or cheap primani, it doesn’t really matter. You need to wear the clothes, don’t let them wear you.

The next really important thing (and I emphasised this a lot with arms gesturing) are the accessories. Jewellery, belts, shoes and of course bags can all help to pull an outfit together and in fact transform an outfit too. It’s not uncommon for me to go to work in a pair of dark jeans and jacket, yet head off to a bar later that day with no outfit change but by simply adding a scarf and a different pair of shoes.

Of course a bag change is a given.  Ditch the work bag and add a small clutch and you are ready to party your night away.
So bearing that in mind here is my guide to the 10 bags required to start your collection.

1/10

Julianne Moore Carrying Her Hermes Birkin Bag 30 CM

Numero uno – It has to be the Birkin bag. Go for a classic colour such as black or cream, and stick to a plain version so that it won’t date. However with a waiting list as long as the Eiffel tower itself, it’s never going to be an easy buy but preloved stores often have them or you could cheat and purchase a replica bag. The replicas are so good nowadays no-one would ever know. Price – thousands.

2/10

Paris Hilton Carrying Her Chanel Classic Flap Bag

Second would have to be the Classic Chanel Flap bag. It doesn’t date and could be seen as an investment (much like a Hermes Birkin can). Price – around £2000 – £4000.

3/10

Hilary Duff Carrying Her Louis Vuitton Monogram Canvas Neverfull Tote

My number 3 would have to be a little LV (I made it rhyme), anyway it would be the Louis Vuitton Monogram Canvas Neverfull . Introduced in spring /summer 2007 this little beauty is a really practical bag.

4/10

Rihanna Carrying Her Louis Vuitton Damier Canvas Alma BB

At number 4 I’d opt for a more classic LV. Something like the LV Alma BB bag. This is a sweet little bag that many celebs have been regularly sporting over the past few years. Stick to the iconic LV monogram canvas and this bag will last a lifetime.

5/10

Victoria Beckham Carrying Her Hermes Kelly Pochette In Suede

Number 5 – You always need at least one clutch bag, it really doesn’t matter which designer but I recommend small and black, so look to the likes of either a Hermes Kelly Pochette or a Gucci Soho Original Leather Clutch Black.

6/10

Madonna Carrying Her Louis Vuitton Mahina XL Bag

My choice for number 6 – an oversized bag such as the Louis Vuitton Mahina XL. It’s not an everyday bag but there are days when you will love to carry such a sublime piece of arm candy, despite the weight of it!

7/10

Elle Fanning Carrying Her Miu Miu Madras Shoulder Bag

Number 7 – go for another classic. One that you don’t see everybody wearing anymore but one that when you do wear it people will say, “oh my god I love that bag”. So go for a less obvious designer like Miu Miu and I’d recommend a Leather Miu Miu Madras Shoulder Bag. Again your classic colours are you friend ensuring longevity however this bag does look pretty in pale yellow.

Only 3 to go…..

8/10

Nicole Richie Sporting Her Balenciaga City Bag

Number 8 – We all need a Balenciaga city bag from time to time. This was a huge hit years ago and still looks uber cool.

9/10

Olivia Palermo Sporting Her Fendi Peekaboo Bag

At number 9 – I’d have to say I couldn’t be with out my Fendi Peekaboo designer bag. Practical and stylish, it’s always a great work bag, but with the long shoulder strap it’s easy to carry around should I venture out on the tiles.

10/10

Beyonce Sporting Her Hermes Kelly Bag

My number 10 is another Hermes offering. What can I say, I just love this luxury brand, but I’d opt for a Kelly bag, perhaps is a pastel shade, perfect for work, rest and play when the sunshine’s.
